Marjorie House is located in Marathon which is on the North Shore of Lake Superior. We provide supports and information to those affected by all forms of violence. We may also provide services to women at risk who are in need of a safe and secure environment. When you access services from Marjorie House you will be believed, validated, and supported in your decisions. Staff are prepared to empower you and help you make informed choices for yourself and your children.
Our catchment area covers Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg (Pic Mobert First Nation), Biigtigong Nishnaabeg (Pic River First Nation), Manitouwadge, Marathon, Jackfish, Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Rossport and Pawgwasheeng (Pays Plat First Nation). Although this is our catchment area, we do serve women from all geographical areas. For more support please connect with Marjorie House.
At Marjorie House, we promote LGBQIA2+ inclusion and advocacy. As such, we support and serve anyone who identifies as a woman and their children. Marjorie House is a trans inclusive space and we recognize all trans and gender-diverse identities.
Marjorie House works from a harm reduction model. This means that Marjorie House works on a client – centered approach that aims to reduce both health and social harms.
Marjorie House also works from an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework, as such we continue to challenge the oppressive structures and practices that are currently operating to provide women and their dependents dignity, respect, integrity and compassion.
Our shelter is located in a French designated community and French-language services can be made available.
