Outreach, also known as Transitional Housing Support Program, at Marjorie House exists to help women (and their families) to feel safe and to live free from abuse. Outreach serves non-residential community member within Marathon and our surrounding catchment area. Together we work on transition planning, safety planning, referrals to appropriate agencies, legal/housing, public education, advocacy and accompaniment, health & wellness support, and crisis intervention. One of the main facets of Outreach has been being a judgement-free support to women in transition, however that may look to her.

Outreach support for women may look like:

  • Individual counselling surrounding domestic and gender-based violence (in-person, over the phone, video calls, etc)

  • Group counselling through women's groups

  • Providing one-on-one education about violence and abuse

  • Providing education on gender-based violence to the public
  • Crisis intervention and referral services

  • Support, accompaniment and advocacy for medical, legal, and family services appointments

  • Referrals and support in accessing housing

  • Referrals and support in employment and education

  • Providing access to food security and harm reduction supplies and resources

  • Local and neighbouring community outreach and visibility
